Symposium on Chemical Physics - 2011

November 4 - 6, 2011

The twenty-seventh annual "regional" Symposium on Chemical Physics, will be held on the weekend of November 4-6, at the University of Waterloo. As usual, the Symposium will include both invited and contributed oral papers, as well as a Poster session, and it will run from the evening of Friday November 4 to mid-day on Sunday November 6. The Friday evening scientific session, beginning at 7:30 PM, will be followed by opportunities for informal socializing and discussion, while the Saturday afternoon Poster session and reception will be followed by the conference banquet and the usual extended discussions at the grad club. Program of the 2011 Meeting

The Roger E. Miller Lectureship

As usual, contributed papers will be a key component of the program. A limited number of them can be presented orally, although most will be part of a poster session, to be held in a relaxed atmosphere with appropriate refreshments available. We very much hope to have a substantial degree of participation by graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Please circulate this notice and the conference URL to any colleagues or students who you think might be interested in attending.

As for the past two years, all regular conference sessions (including the poster session) will be held in or adjacent to Room 1015 of the EIT building (EIT on the Waterloo campus map, just south of the Davis Center where sessions had been held in earlier years), while the dinner again will be at South Campus Hall (SCH on the campus map, by the main entrance to the University from University Avenue; pay parking lot HV is beside that entrance). For the sessions, on-campus parking is available in lot HV, N and M; see the Waterloo campus map for location of these buildings and parking lots. All of these lots are coin operated. For those planning to arrive by air, Waterloo is located only a short distance (approximately a 1 hour drive) from Toronto International Airport. A convenient limousine service run by Airways Transit provides convenient door-to-door service between the three Toronto terminals and all sites in the Waterloo area. Reservations may be made by sending e-mail to infowaterloo@airwaystransit.com and informing them of: a) your airline, flight number, and date and time of Toronto arrival, and b) the hotel or University location you want to be taken to. Such reservations should be made at least 24 hours prior to arrival (or departure). Departure arrangements may be made by phone from Waterloo. In the Toronto airport terminals, the Airways Transit drivers may be met at the "Ground Transportation Desk" in the Arrivals Concourse.

Those travelling from western Canada should also be aware that Westjet flies directly into the "Region of Waterloo International Airport" located in sourth-east Kitchener, from whence a 20 minute taxi ride will bring you to the University area. As a small regional airport, the customs/security delays are much less time consuming as those at Toronto-Pearson.

Registration and the Submission of Contributed Papers should be performed on-line by following the instructions on the above links. The contributed paper submission deadline is Tuesday October 25 for papers which wish to be considered for oral presentation, and Monday October 31 for Poster Papers.
